Vinyl flooring is traditionally associated with areas that have to be kept clean such as kitchens and bathrooms but it is becoming widely used through out the home, especially with the use of vinyl tiles. These can be mixed and matched as you want to produce a truly unique floor.
The technology used to produce modern vinyl flooring results in realistic looking and feeling floors, even down to reproducing the feel of the grain in a timber / wood or slate / stone effect floor.
The sheet products come in a variety of widths, normally 2, 3 and 4 meters. This means that you can reduce the amount of waste material and that less, if any, joins are required.
Design floors are created by using individual tiles / planks along with artificial grout lines and complementary borders. There are a few well known high street brands such as Amtico and Karndean.
One of the less well known brands in the domestic market is Polyflor. They produce flooring to the same specification as the domestic brand leaders but use the knowledge they have gained through the heavy duty commercial sector to match and in some cases exceed the quality of comparably priced products. Another advantage is that you do not have to use their own brand adhesives and maintenance products and this can help to reduce the cost on a like for like basis
